Corfu celebrated the 2nd Corfu Half Marathon on Sunday 29 of September in a big participatory running gala with more than 1.300 participant runners and 2000 accompanying persons!

The Event was organized by DOPAP of Corfu Municipality and the local Committee of SEGAS Kerkyras and took place under the auspices of SEGAS, AIMS, EOT, PSAT and with the co-operation of Corfu Hotel Association and the Association of Tourist Agents in Corfu and with the support of City & Intercity Buses and the Port Authority of Corfu.

The Event included a Half Marathon, a 5km run, a 3km fun run and 1000m for students of primary schools. The start & finish line as well as all the Event’s services were located at the heart of Corfu old town, the Liston! Athletes from Corfu as well as from the surrounding areas, flooded on Sunday morning the Spianada square waiting for their starting time to come!

The islands’ attractions and especially the picturesque old town that belongs to UNESCO world’s heritage, the history of KERKYRAIKOS Sports’ Club, the high standards of the Event and the great participation race pack made Corfu Half Marathon the best running destination for September! The Event is looking forward to attract more runners from all around Greece and to gradually become an international claimed running Event!
