On the 7th of May the heart of Arcadia beat on Megalopolis.

The municipality of Megalopolis in co-ordination with the Region Union of Peloponnese and under the auspices of the Peloponnese EAS Athletics Federation organized the first running race of Megalopolis “Run the Theatre 2017”.

The race was dedicated to the ancient theater of Megalopolis which has been the biggest in all ancient Greece and nowadays is going through dereliction.

The Event included a 5 & 2,5 km run. The local community supported the Event with great dedication and the participations in the 2,5 km were almost sold out!

The Event on the one side, aspired to bring to light the monumental ancient theatre and thus to enhance the restorations procedures and on the other, to create a race of high standards which will attract runners from all the Peloponnese, developing in the near future a new sport’s destination.

On the day of the run the ancient theater opened its’ doors to the public and the visitors had the chance to enjoy a guided tour by an archeologist, therefore, proving that mass athletics matter and have the power to improve our lives in so many ways.
