“On May 6, we ran for the biggest theater of the Greek antiquity!”

Megalopoli celebrated its second race Event dedicated to the biggest theater of the ancient Greek world!

The 2nd Run the Theatre- Megalopolis race, Arcadia, took place on Sunday, May 6th with the participation of 950 registered runners and a particularly massive presence in the 2.5 km participatory race.

It is worth mentioning that 5 & 10 km routes are certified by an international counter of SEGAS, IAAF and AIMS.

The Event was organized by the Municipality of Megalopoli in cooperation with the Peloponnese Region, the auspices of EAS SEGAS of Peloponnese, the support of the local sports clubs: GYM Lykaia and Megalopolis Athletic Club.

The event had only winners, had only happy faces! Run the Theater was a celebration set up in the central square of the city and is a participatory event that promotes citizens’ education and health and highlights the cultural heritage of the Municipality of Megalopoli by promoting its ancient theater.

On the day of the Event, the ancient theater of Megalopoli was opened to the public from 11:00 to 15:00 with free entry and under the presence of archaeologist to guide visitors. While the preceding week, an educational program for students of primary and secondary education took place with visits to the ancient theater of Megalopolis under the presence and guidance of an archaeologist.

Another action within the framework of the Social Program of the Event, was the distribution of 1,500 portions of pasta to the Social Protection and Solidarity of the Municipality of Megalopolis to support the poor families of Megalopoli.
