For the fourth consecutive year the Municipality of Nafplio in cooperation with the Regional Union of Argolis, the Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece, the Argolis sports club G.E. and under the auspieces of ministry of tourism and the Alliance for Greece, organized the 4th Nafplio Castle Run.

More than two thousand runners participated in this autumn athletic celebration which took place in Nafplio. A celebration which honors the recapture of the historic castle of Palamidi and the liberation of the city. The event consisted of the Castle Run, a 10km race, a 3km fun run and 1.500m.

The main event before the race was a Torch Relay which carried the marathon flame from the statue of hero Staikopoulos to the top of Palamidi Castle, were they handed it over to Nafplio Mayor who light the altar and thus marking the opening of Nafplio Castle Run Event. The Torchbearers were students of the Military School of the Hellenic Army

Within the framework of the event a Workshop took place. The subject of the workshop was «Media Day – Branding The City of Nafplio» with main speaker professor of University of Thessaly Mr. Alexios Defner. Also, during this workshop the honorable awards of the Students who were distinguished on Nafplio Marathon 5km race took place.
