On Sunday morning, 26th of November, more than 2000 runners were present at the city gate of Palamidi Castle in order to attend the Nafplio Castle Run 2017! Nafplio Castle Run is the only running Event in Greece which includes racing ascension of castle and took place for third year in a row with unique success!

The Event is part of the city celebrations for its liberation and includes apart from the Castle Run, a 10km race, a 3km fun run and 1.500m. for students of primary school. The runners’ comments for the level of organization and the high athletic standards were extraordinary and many left with the promise to return next year in the same starting lines in order to beat their last years’ performance.

The eve of the Event a torch relay took place with the Olympic flame, which have been received during the Athens Authentic Marathon ceremonies, going up the Castle step by step to light the altar. Right after, 195 candle lanterns which symbolize the liberation years of the city, were left to fly in the sky of beautiful Nafplio creating a magical atmosphere and welcoming the 3rd Nafplio Castle Run!
